The Ultimate Lithgow Wedding Itinerary
Lithgow is truly the ‘mountain’ part of the Blue Mountains. Surrounded by some of the most stunning national parks in New South Wales, it is no wonder so many couples choose to get married here: the scenes are spectacular.
As for wedding organisation, you may have already chosen venue, but what about your welcome drinks or recovery party?
That’s where we come in!
Below is our ultimate three-day wedding itinerary for those getting married in or around the Lithgow area to help you get started on your wedding planning journey. The Local Compass highly recommends calling venues in advance for bookings (especially caterers or venues hosting your pre-drinks or recovery). You don’t want to miss out!
Day 1 – Day Before the Wedding
Arrival – Brunch or Lunch
So you’ve arrived in the Blue Mountains, it’s not quite time to check into the accommodation and you feel like a late breakfast or early lunch (brunch, if you will). Then we suggest you head immediately to Hometown Café. If you want to kick off the celebrations early than you’re in luck, this venue is fully licensed and serves drinks from 10 am!
Or, perhaps you have organised an Air BnB for the bridal party and are looking to put on some welcome nibbles. In that case, if you call ahead and place an order The Tin Shed cafe can put together some truly delish grazing boxes for you and your bridal crew.
Evening – Welcome Drinks
Welcome drinks are just that, a place where guests who may have travelled a fair distance can get together and be treated with food and bubbles - and to celebrate the happy couple, of course! Your venue might already be able to host your welcome drinks, however there are a few options in town worth exploring such as The Blue Fox if you’re looking at hosting a decent amount of people (but not too many) or the restaurant at Hotel Etico if you’re after a more intimate dinner with your nearest and dearest.
Want something a little more relaxed at the accommodation for just you and the bridal party? Pizza’s from Alchemy Pizza is your wallet friendly option.
For more inspiration see our Katoomba and Leura itinerary and our Blackheath itinerary, which are roughly 30 - 45 minute drives from Lithgow, and are on the way if the majority of your guests are coming to and from Sydney.
Day 2 – Wedding Day
Morning – Breakfast
Getting hair and make up done is tiring stuff and requires A LOT of energy. Thankfully, there is no shortage of options to keep you re-fuelled! We recommend calling either The Tin Shed or The Hometown Café and seeing if they are able to put a box or two together for you and your bridal party that you can take back to your accomodation.
Midday / Evening – Wedding Time!
This one is all you, have an absolute blast!
Day 3 – Recovery
Midday / Evening – Post wedding wind down
There aren’t a great deal of places in the Lithgow area that fit the bill for a recovery venue, so if this offering is not part of your wedding package and you still feel like getting together with your guests then might we suggest The New Ivanhoe Hotel in Blackheath. This art deco pub is a perfect place for a chilled wine or three in a beer garden and if your guests are coming from Sydney not only is it on their way home, but it is a short 20 odd minute drive from Lithgow!
If you’d rather skip the recovery party and just hermit somewhere with the love of your life before facing reality, then a one-night stay in a hotel close-by might be just what you need to really soak in the day that was. Our favourite hotels in and around Lithgow are Hotel Etico and the Victoria and Albert Guesthouse, or you can head to the very groovy Kyah Hotel in Blackheath.
There is SO much more to The Blue Mountains area than meets the eye - or makes this list. If you’re after more inspiration check out our other guides for the best recommendations in the area guaranteed to make your wedding day feel that extra bit special.
