The Ultimate Berrima & Moss Vale Wedding Itinerary
If you and your partner are looking at planning a wedding in the pristine areas of either Berrima or Moss Vale in the Southern Highlands, then congratulations, you have made a stunning choice. You may already have your venue, but what about your pre-wedding drinks? Or the perfect recovery party spot?
If you’re at a loss don’t worry, we’re here to help.
We’ve put together a specially curated list of the best spots in both Berrima and Moss Vale to help you plan your special day. The Local Compass highly recommends booking and calling venues, caterers and cafes in advance so you don’t miss out!
Day 1 – Day Before the Wedding
Arrival – Brunch or Lunch
The Flour Bar in Moss Vale is a delightful spot for breakfast, lunch and dinner – as well as being a Deli. Stop in with your girls or guys for some food, but don’t forget to pick up a pile of goodies for a platter later! In a pinch, you could also order some takeaway sandwiches. If you’re more looking on the breakfast side of things, the Highlands Merchant has superb food and delicious coffee.
If you are staying in Berrima not to worry, Moss Vale is only a 10 minute drive away.
Or, perhaps you have organised an Air BnB for you and the bridal party and are looking to host welcome nibbles there. In that case, you can pick up some cheeses and meats from Flour Bar or sweet treats from Baked in Berrima. If you think you’ll need a bit more of a selection you can take a ten minute drive into Bowral and stop in at either Harris Farm or Bendooley Estate Larder which has a selection of salads, sandwiches, and hot meals perfect for takeaway with a bit of pizzazz.
Optional Afternoon Acitivity – Beauty Treatment
Depending on the bride and groom, a massage might just be what the doctor ordered. For luxurious treatments head in to Bowral and drop by Endota Spa. For something very luxurious however a little out of the way, Osborn House is a must.
Evening – Welcome Drinks
For your welcome drinks event you have a delicious number of options available to you.
If a relaxed beer garden where everyone can mingle is the vibe, then the Sutton Forest Inn is perfect. You can also always venture a little inward (closer towards Bowral) and find yourself at the Briars Inn. For something a little fancier yet still able to host plenty of people, you can book the Robertson Hotel or Mount Ashby Estate.
Not really looking for a big party and are after something more intimate? Dinner at Flour Bar is perfect for mid size groups. For smaller groups who are after something fancy with just a handful of friends – Osborn House or Eschalot are your best options.
If you would prefer to host your wedding party at your Air BnB and wish to get your event catered you have an abundance of options in the Southern Highlands area. Graze Catering, Delilah & Co and PB Catering would all be perfect for an upscale catering service. If you would rather a more relaxed style of catering (on the plate and wallet) pizza’s from BD’s Woodfired Pizza or Eccetera are both delicious options. Or alternatively you can stock up on goodies from Bendooley Estate Larder (pre-order, of course!).
Day 2 – Wedding Day
Morning – Breakfast and Optional Activities
First things first – coffee! For your bride tribe organise a pre-ordered breakfast box of treats from Flour Bar or The Press Shop. If you’re after something more low-key yet still delicious, head to Baked in Berrima for some baked goods.
Depending on the bride and groom, some lovelies like to get up early and seize the day with an activity or two!
Bride Tribe, Studio Pilates in Bowral offers one-off Pilates classes for you and your girls, or you can organise a private yoga class through Mittagong Yoga, who has a wedding day offering where you are guaranteed to de-stress before putting on the dress.
For the guys, you are just a hop, skip and a jump away from one of the best Golf Courses in the Southern Highlands: Mount Broughton Golf and Country Club.
Midday / Evening – Wedding Time!
This one is all on you, enjoy and have the day of your dreams!
Late night – Keep the party going
Most wedding venues in the Southern Highlands have an end time of before or on midnight – but that doesn’t mean you or your guests are ready to kill the party!
If you wish for a cheeky drink somewhere else there are a few (see, only a few) venues that are open into the early hours – we do recommend you call ahead and see if they haven’t closed up early, though.
For all you party people, The Moss Vale hotel or the Argyle Hotel are usually open late. If the majority of your guests are staying in Bowral (and perhaps this is where the bus will drop them off) then The Bowral Hotel or the Royal Hotel Bowral are open late.
Day 3 – Recovery
Midday
Who doesn’t love a recovery party? Nurse the hangover in the sunshine with your guests at some of the best beer gardens around in the Sutton Forest Inn, the Bundanoon Hotel or Surveyor General Inn.
Evening - Optional hotel stay
The bride and groom might not be ready to drive back to Sydney…sometimes a post-wedding wind down in a hotel room, just the two of you, is exactly what the doctor ordered. Luckily we have a list of the most perfect, luxurious places to stay and soak in your love bubble before you go back to reality (or the airport!). These are Berida Hotel, Pepper’s Manor House, Osborn House and Moss Manor.
There is SO much more to the Southern Highlands area than meets the eye - or makes this list. If you’re after more inspiration check out our other guides for the best recommendations in the area guaranteed to make your wedding day feel that extra bit special.
