The Ultimate Berry Wedding Itinerary

Berry, on the South Coast, is the epitome of slow, country living. Close to the beach but also brimming with countryside charm, you are in one of the most scenic spots in all of New South Wales to get married. There is so much to celebrate here, so let us take you beyond the wedding day and help curate your ultimate three-day wedding weekend from welcome drinks to recovery parties.

Below is our guide to help get you started on your wedding planning journey. The Local Compass highly recommends calling venues in advance for bookings (especially caterers or venues hosting your pre-drinks or recovery). You don’t want to miss out!

Day 1 – Day Before the Wedding

Arrival – Brunch or Lunch

So you’ve arrived in Berry and it’s not quite time to check into your accommodation. You will probably feel like a late breakfast or early lunch in one of the many quaint cafes. For excellent food and coffee go straight to The Garden or Berry General Store. If you are more the refined, wholesome sort of bride, you can sip on tea and nibble cake with your besties at The Berry Tea shop to kick off the weekend.

Or, perhaps you have organised an Air BnB for the bridal party and are just looking for some hearty goodies to snack on at the accommodation? In that case, pick up an array of treats from the The Emporium Gourmet Cafe and Deli.

Optional – Activity

Some brides and grooms love a pre-wedding activity. If you are a beachy couple, the closest and best beach near Berry is Seven Mile Beach, which is a very short drive away. Or you might wish to hit the green at Kangaroo Valley Golf & Country Club.

For all the guys and girls who are more into a good pampering session, book yourself a massage or a mani pedi at Lou Lou Day Spa for some luxurious treatment.

Evening – Welcome Drinks

Welcome drinks are just that, a place where your guests who may have travelled from Sydney or even further can get together, be treated to food and bubbles, and celebrate the happy couple. The perfect place to host a welcome drink in Berry would be either The Garden or the courtyard at Il Locale.

For more inspiration see our Jervis Bay itinerary and Kiama itinerary.

Day 2 – Wedding Day

Morning – Breakfast and Activities

For all those active brides and grooms, you can start your day with a beach run (or walk) at Seven Mile Beach. Then head back to your accommodation to start the beautifying process. Make sure you are appropriately well stocked on goodies as you get your hair and make up done (or as the guys prepare their suits). You can pre-order a mouthwatering and ever-changing array of cakes, pastries and other savoury treats from Milkwood Bakery or Berry Sourdough Café.

Midday / Evening – Wedding Time!

This one is all you, enjoy and have the day of your dreams!

Day 3 – Recovery

Midday – Recovery party

Many wedding venues in and around the area of Berry do host recovery parties, however if yours doesn’t or you’re looking for an alternate option (perhaps a bit more low key) may we suggest the Berry Hotel, Berry Bowling Club or the Great Southern Hotel where your guests can sit back and nurse the hangover with a pint or three. If you want something a little more elevated, you can revisit The Garden as a beautiful option for a recovery drink.

Evening – Post wedding wind down

Hosting a wedding is exhausting stuff, and the two hour trip back to Sydney can (understandably) seem all a bit too much. If the bride and groom just wish for a night to themselves to decompress after what would be a massive few days, you’ve got some incredible options. Our favourites around Berry are Bangalay Luxury Villas, Homestead Berry, The Sebel Kiama, Cicada Luxury Camping and Crystal Creek Meadows‎ Cottages.

There is SO much more to The South Coast than meets the eye - or makes this list. If you’re after more inspiration check out our other guides for the best recommendations in the area guaranteed to make your wedding day feel that extra bit special.
