So, you’ve settled on your perfect wedding venue and it’s in the Kangaroo Valley, now all you need to do is plan everything before and after the big day!
If you’re feeling stressed, don’t - we’ve made it easy for you with this specially curated wedding itinerary designed to help brides and grooms live out their dreams.
Everything from the perfect morning-of coffee to pre-wedding drinks to recovery party venues, The Local Compass has you sorted with only the best recommendations in the Kangaroo Valley and surrounding areas.
As is the case with all things ‘wedding’, we highly recommend booking and calling venues, caterers and cafes in advance so you don’t miss out!
Day 1 – Day Before the Wedding
Arrival – Brunch or Lunch
So you’ve made the trip to Kangaroo Valley and are looking for a relaxed brunch with your bride tribe before checking-in to the accomodation, then we suggest swinging by The General Café or the Kangaroo Valley Coffee co. If you’re arriving a little later and lunch with a side of charm is more your vibe, definitely head over to the Friendly Inn Hotel.
Or perhaps you have organised an Air BnB for the bridal party and are looking to put on some welcome nibbles. In that case, you can pick up provisions by popping into Kangaroo Valley Fine Wines & Draft Ales for a selection of fine wines and craft beers and then The Friendly Grocer supermarket for food. If a selection of cheeses and dips won’t quite hit the spot, you can pick up some takeaway pies, pastries and bread from the Kangaroo Valley Bakehouse.
Evening – Welcome Drinks
For your welcome drinks event you have a number of options at your fingertips. If you’re after a relaxed feel, The Friendly Inn has a great beer garden where you and your guests can kick back, relax and celebrate. If you’re after something fancy, you can book the gorgeous courtyard at Wildes Boutique Hotel.
If you would prefer to host at your Air BnB and wish to get your event catered, Caterina catering are local to the area and source only the freshest produce. If you want something more down to earth, family style with a home-made feel? Then you can turn to another local who transformed her love for cooking into a booming business in Angie’s Food.
Day 2 – Wedding Day
Morning – Breakfast
First things first – coffee! Head into The General Café or Kangaroo Valley Coffee Co. for your coffee run where you can also pick up a selection of goodies to take back with you (pro tip: if you call the cafes a few days beforehand you can always ask and see what they can put together for your wedding crew!)
If you don’t want the fuss, Angie’s Food and Caterina catering also do some truly excellent breakfast catering – so you can just order, set and forget on your special day.
Midday / Evening – Wedding Time!
This one is all on you, enjoy and have the day of your dreams!
Day 3 – Recovery Party
Midday
Who doesn’t love a recovery party? Celebrate the night that was in the sunshine with your guests at the charming Friendly Inn hotel for something low-key and casual. If you’re after a slightly fancier post-wedding drink, Wildes Boutique Hotel is also a great option.
Some wedding venues in the Kangaroo Valley also offer recovery party options as part of their package, so make sure you ask!
Evening - Optional hotel stay
Understandably, the bride and groom might not be ready to drive back to Sydney and are in need of a little decompression from what can be an immense few days. Sometimes, just one night in a hotel close by, just the two of you, is the perfect way to cap off your wedding weekend. Our top recommendations in and around the Kangaroo Valley area are Wildes Boutique Hotel, Barranca, Osborn House, the Homestead Berry and the very groovy and budget friendly, Berry View.
There is SO much more to the Southern Highlands area than meets the eye - or makes this list. If you’re after more inspiration check out our other guides for the best recommendations in the area guaranteed to make your wedding day feel that extra bit special.
