The Ultimate Jervis Bay Wedding Itinerary
The South Coast is one of the most beautiful places to get married. Surrounded by sun, sand and ocean, you are in one of the most scenic spots in all of New South Wales. There is so much to celebrate here, so let us take you beyond the wedding day and help curate your ultimate three-day wedding weekend in Jervis Bay.
Below is our helpful guide to get you started on your wedding planning journey. The Local Compass highly recommends calling venues in advance for bookings (especially caterers or venues hosting your pre-drinks or recovery.) You don’t want to miss out!
Day 1 – Day Before the Wedding
Arrival – Brunch or Lunch
So you’ve arrived in Jervis Bay and it’s not quite time to check into your accommodation. You will probably feel like a late breakfast or early lunch somewhere to kickstart your weekend. For excellent food and coffee go straight to The Local, or if you’re after a more laidback brunch, Salty Joes is the spot for you. If your wedding is closer to Huskisson, may we suggest 5 Little Pigs. However if you’re at the Hyams Beach end of Jervis Bay, the Cooked Goose is not to be missed for good vibes and even better food.
Or perhaps you have organised an Air BnB for the bridal party and are looking to put on some welcome nibbles. Not to worry, you are in seafood heaven at Jervis Bay. Head over to World Famous Fish and Chips in Huskisson to pick up the salty goods and refuel after your journey.
Optional – Activity
Some brides and grooms love a pre-wedding activity, and Jervis Bay is stacked with options.
Golfers can hit the green at Shoalhaven Heads Golf Club or The Country Club Vincentia, or maybe you and the crew wouldn’t mind a dip in the ocean. Our top recommendations for beaches are Hyams Beach, Greenfield Beach and Murrays Beach. But really you can take your pick of any swim spot on Google Maps.
Evening – Welcome Drinks
Welcome drinks are just that, a place where your guests who have travelled can get together, mingle and be treated with food and bubbles - all while celebrating the happy couple. Your venue might already be able to host your welcome drinks, however there are a few options in town worth exploring such as the Huskisson Hotel right on the water for a relaxed start to the weekend.
For more inspiration see our Kiama itinerary and Berry itinerary.
Day 2 – Wedding Day
Morning – Breakfast and Activities
For those active bride and grooms, you can start your day with a run (or walk) round the Bay Walking Track which takes you from Callala Bay to Vincentia, or a dip in your nearest beach. before heading back to your accommodation to start the beautifying process. Make sure you are appropriately well stocked on goodies to nibble on as you get your hair and make up done (or the guys prepare their suits). For your morning-of catering you can pick up some goodies at Huskisson Bakery & Café or you can call The Local and see if you can organise some baked treats to box up and take back with you.
Midday / Evening – Wedding Time!
This one is all you, enjoy and have the day of your dreams!
Day 3 – Recovery
Midday – Recovery party
Many wedding venues in Jervis Bay do host recoveries, however if yours doesn’t or you are looking for an alternate option (perhaps a bit more low key), might we suggest checking out Jervis Bay Distilling Co or booking a spot at the beer garden at the Flamin’ Galah. Got a venue but need catering? Check out Bumpy Road catering – they’ll have you covered!
Evening – Post wedding wind down
Hosting a wedding is exhausting stuff, and the almost three hour trip back to Sydney can (understandably) seem a bit much. If the newlyweds just wish for a night to themselves to decompress after what would be a massive few days, you’ve got some incredible options. Our favourites in Jervis Bay are Paperbark Camp, The Sanctuary at Paradise Beach B&B, Worrowing Jervis Bay, The Cove and Bangalay Luxury Villas.
There is SO much more to The South Coast than meets the eye - or makes this list. If you’re after more inspiration check out our other guides for the best recommendations in the area guaranteed to make your wedding day feel that extra bit special.
