The coolest Asian fusion in Mollymook
The hip restaurant Gwylo, in the heart of Mollymook, offers a rare pivot from the chic eateries serving up fancy seafood of which the seaside town is (rightfully) known for. This Asian fusion spot is more reminiscent of an LA dive bar with it’s classic playlist, booths and neon glow, and wouldn’t be wholly out of place in Sydney’s Inner West.
Built off the back of owner-chef Matt Upson’s travels to Malaysia and Kuala Lumpur where he was given the nickname ‘Gwai lo’ (white ghost), Gwylo is the perfect place if you and your friends are looking for a serious meal with a slightly more laidback atmosphere.
Why we love it
Gwylo has the sort of atmosphere that tempts you to indulge in just one more drink. From the tunes, to the cocktails, to the reasonably priced menu, everything about this dive will have you and your group of friends getting comfy in the booth and laughing over the abundance of share plates and beer.
But the main reason we love Gwylo?
The flavours are typical of the very best Asian street eats. They are big, bold, authentic and will have you begging for more.
The details
During the Summer, Gwylo is open for dinner from Tuesday to Sunday from 6 pm, and in Winter from Wednesday to Saturday. They also have a takeaway menu available on Thursdays.
What’s even better are their set menus, which are truly bang for your buck, both sitting under $100 per person for an absolute feast.
