Blueberry picking, fun for the whole family

Family holidays are memory treasure troves, but sometimes it can be a struggle to decide on what activities (beside the beach) your little ones will not just enjoy, but be talking about all the way home and for years to come.

Higgins Creek Farm sits smack bang in the middle of Mollymook and Batemans Bay on the South Coast and offers the truly joyful experience of blueberry picking which the whole family - as well as a group of friends - can enjoy.

Why we love it

It’s the simplicity of the adventure that makes this wholesome activity so much fun. Upon arrival you are given a massive 2-litre bucket, and then you go on your way around the farm, not only learning about how to pick blueberries but also the ins and outs of blueberry production.

But don’t worry, this goes beyond just a few hours out and about with the family. Higgins Creek Farm grow nine varieties on over three thousand blueberry bushes across their six acre orchard, and the quality of their produce is so much so that they are sold commercially across the coast where you can find them in local IGA’s and farm produce shops.

The details

At the moment, the Higgins Creek Farm harvest timeline is three months, running ‘pick your own blueberries’ direct from the orchard during January from 10 am to 2 pm daily and by appointment in February and March.

Admission is $5 for adults and $2 for kids under 12 years, which not only makes this day out fun and delicious, but also affordable!

Need more?

Higgins Creek Farm also offers accommodation! As this is a working farm surrounded by the Murramurang National Park, you are up for a truly unique stay. Here, you can not only learn about growing blueberries (or pick your own depending on the time of year) but you can also tour the farm and visit their horses, ducks, sheep, and mini goats.
